About CoderCraft
CoderCraft was created by its founder, Paul Coffey, as a Social Enterprise to help teach essential coding skills in an enjoyable environment that children are familiar with, specifically Minecraft. Using Minecraft allows children are able to see immediate real world applications of what they are learning all the while in a setting that’s fun.
I have been teaching various computer education skills to a wide range of groups for the past 10 years. I felt that many coding courses could be improved upon by introducing kids to coding in a language used in industry, teaching the kids the importance of attention to detail and getting away from conceptual teaching to focus on practical application.
Learning how to code with Python in Minecraft: This is an 8-10 week course that provides Coding Classes teaching the programming Python language using the video game Minecraft. Using a text based language it gives a true understanding of what is involved with programming.
Creating a video game using GameMaker2:
This uses industry standard development environment GameMaker to create a video game. It can be run as a 10 week module or a year long course with a group project. It uses its own programming language GML or a ‘drag n’ drop’ non-textual language and is therefore suitable for a wide range of ages.
Scratch using Google’s CS:
good for primary schools & 1st years. This is a gentle introduction to coding concepts using a ‘drag n’ drop’ non-textual language.
We teach a high quality course that emphasises teaching important skills in a practical and enjoyable environment.
